Hermes VS Mercury
Hermes
Hermes is the god of trade, thieves, travellers, sports, athletes, and border crossings, and a guide to the Underworld. He is the second youngest Olympian god and was the son of Zeus and Maia. Hermes is also depicted as a trickster where he would outwit the gods either for the good of humankind or for his own personal amusement and satisfaction. As the god of boundaries and transitions, Hermes was known to be quick and cunning and had the ability to freely move between the mortal and divine worlds. It was this ability to traverse the two different worlds, that made him a luck-bringing messenger to the gods and the messenger between mortals and the divine.
Mercury
Mercury is the god of thieves, merchants, travellers, transporters of goods, tricksters and a guide to the underworld for the dead. Mercury is the son of Jupiter and Maia. For Jupiter, he slew Argus (many-eyed monster). Jupiter sends Mercury to deliver dreams and to keep mortals safe. He was the grandfather of Odysseus (protagonist of the Odyssey). He has a temple in Rome built for him and has a cult devoted to him. He is usually depicted wearing shepherd's clothing and usually carries a purse, symbolising his business functions.
Very good information. A few things could have been improved, though. Firstly, it would have been nice to have a direct comparison of the two to tie the post together. At the moment it is mostly "Hermes and Mercury" not "Hermes vs Mercury".
